The tradition of footwear styles commemorative of Black History Month continues tomorrow as Nike readies a two-piece collection for fans through this Sportswear division. Engaging in the action comes two of the Swoosh’s classics including the Air Force 1 and Air Max 95, both of which interpret 90s street style and African textiles to the best of their ability. The former is being delivered in a low-cut format, and features accents that run the gamut of the primary color wheel with cultural-inspired hues of reds, yellows, greens, oranges and blues to touch the Swoosh logos, heels, and throat overlays. Elsewhere on the shoes keeps colors in darker territories, but destructive elements via loose threading spewing out from the Swoosh logos, in addition to a mirror toe box bring in more character. Lace loops are narrowed down to two sets – a similar method used on Samuel Ross’ previous A-COLD-WALL AF1 collabs – and “BHM” logos are stamped onto the tongues and insoles.
Its release sibling in the AM 95 takes its multi-colored essence to an even higher level it asymmetrically divides its plethora of heritage tones between each foot to further speak to traditional African clothing articles. Raw-edged materials are also employed, but do so via translucent overlays placed towards the heels. And While these AM 95s dye their mesh throat in pitch black, they can become even louder as packaged with the pair comes a set of mismatching purple and yellow lace shrouds and a Sharpie pen for personalization. Both are set to release tomorrow on Nike.com and at select retailers for $130 (AF1) and $180 (AM 95), so grab a closer look here below.
