Earlier this year, Nike revealed the next “Big Thing” for its VaporMax line: the Flyease-exclusive, mostly-recycled VaporMax 2020. But ahead of its Tokyo Olympics 2020 endeavors, the brand will continue relying on models like the VaporMax Flyknit 3 and VaporMax Plus, the latter seen here in “Black/Metallic Gold.”
Clad almost entirely in “Black,” uppers take a much more understated approach than on a recent pastel-heavy pair for Easter. And yet, the semi-tonal pair makes a statement of its own. TPU cages signature to the Air Max Plus line keep their glossy sheen, but are complemented by shimmering golden accents. Perhaps a nod to the aforementioned competition’s highest accolade, “Metallic Gold” hits at the tongue, midfoot shank and lateral heel Swoosh add some contrast to the silhouette’s top-half, but completely enlivens the VaporMax Plus’ bottoms. Revolutionary pod-like Air units keep their transparent finish, but opt for a full-length golden arrangement. And though rubber tooling interrupts at high-wear areas, it makes the golden scheme that much more eye-catching.
While an official release date is still unknown for this VaporMax Plus, pairs are likely to hit Nike.com in the coming weeks with the usual $190 USD price tag. Until then, enjoy a detailed look at the shoes here below.
